I'm going to start servicing my E250 myself and was thinking of changing the oil through a suction pump through the dip stick. I've seen posts saying the dealer's do it that way but not had that confirmed. Has anyone here used one and is there anything to watch out for? I'm aware that there's a lot of oil in the e250 so would probably need a 9ltr pump so you don't have to stop and drain the smaller ones.

Thanks

That's the 1 I use. Empty it when suction runs out. It's no big deal.

I’ve a Pela as per above and an electric Lidl one.

Just get the oil up to temp and don’t be tempted to stick the tube too far down the dipstick... once it’s at the bottom stop (good advice...)

I have a Sealey 6 litre one. Does an excellent job with just enough time to drink a coffee between starting and doing the midpoint empty of the pump (pump auto shuts off when full).
Only car I can't use it on is the 230 so Cole @MBS gets to do that one.

Mine's a Draper 10 Ltr, manual or compressor operated. Has a good selection of probe's too.

I’ve got a sealey 6.5litre one - engine run up to temperature, insert biggest tube (i have 2) which will fit, pump suction pressure go make a cuppa, if needed stop and decant half way and refill...half an hour and oil change and filter done...soo easy and no oil up armpit ;)

ps if buying one go for a large one to suit your car
