I am looking into getting the oil coolers seals replaced. I bought the car a couple of years ago with a known oil leak and although it doesn't seem to lose much oil on the engine dipstick, the under trays are in quite a mess, as is the underside of the engine. I have spent quite a bit of time looking at videos and forums and I am fairly sure it is likely to be the oil cooler seals.

Can anyone in the UK recommend a garage to do the work, please? I live in Hampshire. I understand it is estimated to be about an 8 hour job, so know it will not be cheap, but I am prepared to travel any distance to get the job done well and hopefully at a reasonable price.

I am contacting a couple of reasonably local independent Mercedes garages this week to see what they say but it would be nice to have a recommendation from another Mercedes owner!

Thanks.

Had mine done a PCS in Hprndean - great service. I have previouysly used MBS in Southampton for servicing who were also excellent.

MBS pops up on here often. Seems to be oil cooler seal season, there has been a few posts on this topic recently.

Another vote for MBS - have used them personally.

Alternative, if you’re at the northern end of the county, you could try Star at Reading, also highly regarded in here.

I'm picking up a 300c this week , I specifically checked to see that it was nice and dry in the oil cooler area , hoping I never have to do the seals while I own it

Check that it isn’t a leaking injector seal dissolving baked on engine crud into your under trays first. That’s what it turned out to be on mine.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I have called MBS and Star but neither will touch a Chrysler 300. Also tried Pro-Tech in Newbury but got the same response. Decent chat with them all and most said it is almost certainly the oil cooler seals as this is a common issue and the Om642 engine, apparently it doesn't usually leak from anywhere else.

Now trying to track down a guy called Gavin Bailey in the Swindon area who apparently has done a lot of work on these engines.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for me to try?

Appreciate the help, thanks.
