Oil filter cover leak

Hi , help please ! I have changed oil and filter on my 2003 1.8 c class coupe , now I have a oil leak around the base of the plastic cap which holds the filter . I did not over tighten as the O ring seems to pop out the side a bit .the O ring is new also . I am losing about a half litre a day . Should I use some sort of sealing paste ? Any help much appreciated

Replace your oil filter, so you get a new o ring from Mercedes.

I think I have solved it . I had the O ring in the wrong groove
