I have a cla 220 cdi 2016

The filter I removed is A1121840425
The filter Opie oils recommended (I have in my possession) and other places recommend is blu print ADU172101 it also says on the box sticker that it replaces A1121840425

But I'm a bit nervous fitting it in my car as it's 102mm in length instead of the original 115mm. And the inner diameter I think is slightly different too. The OEM has plastic either end and the blu print is just paper material throughout.

Thoughts?

I only ever buy genuine MB oil filters when you consider what these engines cost and the tolerances they are built to why would you buy anything else and take the chance

It may fit, often there's a spring loaded part to the oil filter housing. However because of the downside, and the worry about the downside, I'd send it back and buy a quality oil filter instead. Oddly the label for the Blueprint filter says Ferdinand Bilstein (Febi Bilstein) on it - which is a decent brand. Blueprint is the very cheapest end of the market.

Personally I like Mann or Wix filters.

for the sake of an extra 5er at most get a genuine MB filter.
Blue print is not a high end aftermarket by any means.

Mercedes also recommends oil filters. And they sell them too.

We buy ours 3 or 4 at a time and the dealer gives us about 20% discount. Less than 10€ each.

Opie oils don't recommend any oil filters , they are a business that offer multiple choice on service items , none come recommended .

They list 3 oil filters for my e350 . None of which I would use tbh.

Blueprint, febi and a mahle. No thanks .

Now this in the picture is a genuine Mann filter made FOR mercedes Benz. They even stamp on the number for us . Hu821. From mercedes £15 . From euro car parts without the mb star but still hu821 from mann £12.

The Mann filter you'd need is

HU 7010 z.

Mann on all my benz. Do not use low budget oil filters or cheap eng oil. If benz cud make engines blow up on non specc oils they prob would.
I like to know that there are no grey areas in my engines. Non genuine or cheaper externals I try. Never internals....

they do - that's the new game with low SAPS oils

modern stuff is designed to cope with something with the lubricity of water plus hideously expensive additives - 3 seconds after its use by date it self destructs - the best bit is durable old high SAPS oils, they also cause the newer designs to self destruct - and / or destroy the modern emission junk, so it runs funny

watchdog just miss-covered it with ford - the wet cam belt delaminates in old / wrong spec oil and it goes bang - "nothing wrong" - (its doing EXACTLY what they designed it to do) just owner incompetence

And one has to ask wot prxck decided to move, simple, easy to change vac pump into sump and drive it with a belt! Or a bycicle chain.!!! Nutters. Previous three Allen bolt end of cam system worked fine.
I get the distinct impression that makers hav an office in design dedicated to making things more difficult, hence more expensive for owners baffle punters, with in car systems, many that distract us from our primary role (drive the f car and look where we are going) then have most kit under the bonnet screw us post warranty.
