hi everyone...

i have an oil leak on my 2002, ML 270 CDI. seems to be coming from the electrical plug at the front of the autobox.

can someone tell me how to replace this, is it a common thing??

is this a job i can do by myself or do i need a mechanic ??

and lastly, roughly how much does this cost ??

the oil is a green colour, is this special ATF ??

sorry to be a pain in the box
( excuse the pun )

any, and i mean any help will be gratefully appreciated.

cheers
andy.

Yes it's common, there are quite a few threads on it if you have a search.

hi there,
have searched through literally hundreds of threads, and it seems the O' rings at the electrical plug is a very common fault and an easy remedy.

however, can't seem to find any description of how to perform this task.

is it a d.i.y. job ??

how much does a specialist normally charge for this job ??

can someone give me some basic instructions and i'll have a go myself,

have access to a ramp and tools, just need some direction

thanks
andy

got some advise on how to change the connector :-

hope this helps....

you have to first pull down anti-clockwise on the tab at the top of the plug which removes the electric plug, it is the inner plastic part which leaks, this is held in by a 7mm bolt, remove this and make sure the 2 seals are removed, then fit your new multi-plug and seals, fit the connector in reverse order, hey presto leaks stopped,.

M.B. dealer, keeps these in stock and are very common, and very cheap too.

thanks for everyones advise.
big thank you to shane lawes..
