i noticed an oil leak on the c200 1997 model.

on further investigation,i removed the black plastic cover at the top front end of the engine and the leak appears to be coming from the camshaft oil seal area.

there are the allen key type screws which hold the camshaft oil seal cover.

i want to know how does one change the seal?
does it come out once you undo the the screws or will it require special tools and a new gasket? :?:

Hi

Sorry but you have the by know standard oil leak from the headgasket. You can remove the front cover & try tightening up the bolts as MB indicate (Since they left them loose or have not tightend them enough) Or replace the headgasket.

If its not that bad. Ie dripping on the drive so the missus complains. Then don't bother.

oil leak

Hi

I agree with Andy. You can tighten front cover bolts with cranked 8mm (I think) allen key but as Andy says its probably the head gasket
