Oil Leak

I have a c200 saloon which has just been diagnosed with oil leaking into the wiring loom and possibly into the engine management unit . My local MB garage has quoted quite a high cost of repair .
Does anyone know if this is a common problem ? The garage claim that as the car is nearly 6 years old MB will not contribute to repair.
Any information re this fault would help as I am a mechanical idiot..
