oil pressure gague

can anyone tell me what that gague indicates 1/3 with a red light at zero because mine just dropped to the red light zone as it was going up the gears (acclerrating uphill) but just for a split second and then seemed to stick at 2.5 whilst i was at traffic  lights  
any thoughts ?

Well the gauge indicates the oil pressure in Bar...1, 2, 3. A sudden drop in pressure is not a nice thing to happen, although the way you descibe it sounds more like a sender fault rather than an actual problen with the oil pressure. Mine sits at 3 while the revs are anything above tickover, and just below 3 when idling.

i have a 190e 2ltr manual and the oil pressure fluctuates quite badly sometimes. when i drive with my foot on the accelerator its on three but after about an hour of driving it can go down to as low as about half (below 1 obviously) only when the car is at the lights and not moving though. can anyone tell me if this is normal or have i got one serious problem on my hands. thanx for the advice in advance people!

ACCORDING TO MY OWNERS MANUAL FOR 1984 280E

INE WHEN WARM HAS OIL PRESSURE OF 1 BAR BUT WHEN REVS ARE AT 1500 3 BAR PRESSURE READING

MINE DID WHAT YOURS DID WENT TO 0 THEN CAME BACK UP SO I CHANGED MY OIL AND FILTER NOW PRESSURE OK
