Hi

Just joined forum. I am based in Ireland,Came across the site only lately & what a fantastic site. Must have read nearly every posting, brilliant. Have been driving an '86 124 300 D manual for just over 3 years, clock showing 248k, covering 40k miles a year(not a taxi driver, work in IT!).
Problem: When I turn on ignition, I am missing nearly all my warning lights, only battery & glow plug lights display, when engine running, no oil pressure reading either, I happened to tap the glass with my fist & hey presto, they all lit up, but most times this "fix" does not work?
out of curiosity, does oil light & oil pressure read from same switch i.e. the switch in the sump?

Any info greatly appreciated
p.s. 124 best Mercedes ever! Will drive mine into the ground, if that's possible.

Hi Andy

Thanks for clearing up the switch dilemma, I presume then, there is an oil pressure switch somewhere? i.e. perhaps near oil filter?
I'm beginning to suspect connections at the back of the dash, for my missing warning lights problem ,I'm planning to take it out over the weekend to have a look at it. Would I be on the right road here?

Thanks

Cheers Andy

Found oil pressure switch. Successfully managed to remove clock/dash binacle with the advice of making up the two coat hangers as advised by dpetryk, great tip & works a treat. Discovered a melted bulb, the one which eluminates the left hand side of dash, could be knocking out the other lights to,didn't look to deep, more of a test to see if I could get dash unit out, so at least I'm on the right track, will source a replacement binnacle for subsitute tests.

Thanks again.
