What does your Oil Pressure Guage sit at? In my Merc 190E it sits at 3 but when the car warms up it drops to 2.5 and when I press the throttle it jumps back to 3.

Is this Normal??

Thanks

What revs is the 2.5bar recorded at? Its pretty damn good if its at tick over. Is the oil changed regularly and for what type? As TV says, if everything else is normal its a good'un. I would try for 500k - 1M mls on that motor.

It was ticking over at 2.5 bar :D. To be honest I forgot I left the car running in the back garden and only noticed 3 hours later that it was still ticking over and sitting at 2.5 bar pressure :)

He just had the top end of the engine rebuilt on it and the car has been well looked after. The Interior is almost new and for doing 185,000 miles it only has 6 small stone chips and slight surface rust to the door which can be rubbed down and sprayed over. Plus the Arches are Solid, no Rust at all and no rust underneith. Looks like it will give me years of fun and for only £500 you cant go wrong :D :)

No idea what Oil he used in it but it must have been good stuff as he spent alot of time on them. He was a Member of a Mercedes Club and he had a 2.6 190E Cosworth and a very old Mercedes Convertible.

For the price of the oil I change mine on both cars at 6k, its the cheapest protection I can get, and only use something like Magnatec, your car is very good enjoy it.

I get my oil direct from the refinery so it is really fresh. I would echo the frequent oil changes.

On the BP site there is an lubricant finder, you just put in your car type and it spits out the oil you should be using. Some of the older cars don't go well on some of the newer oils.

I was born 500yards from the one that blew up, funny that I knew and did a lot of work for the guys that worked there, No one offered me any oil cheap and the cars that I had then used more oil than petrol, 20k miles in a morris 8 and it was time for a rebuild.

I often joke about reversing my car in and filling the tank for free.

Our staff shop is full of oil, most of the people earn to much so they all have cars that go for servicing and never have to buy oil.

It really freaks the guys out in the labs when I go to fix their PCs and start talking about oil in depth.

Happy days TV, and a pleasant Sunday afternoon's work as I recall! Five gallons and a pint of oil on each petrol station visit! I remember it well!
