Just a quick question, what does it normally mean if there is metallic (sparkling) in the oil on the oil dipstick?

Just a quick question, what does it normally mean if there is metallic (sparkling) in the oil on the oil dipstick?

Could be bits from bearings,rings,or sprocket. if they are magnetic then its rings. I have known the timing chain to be so worn that it slaps against the timing cover, those like the bearings would not be magnetic. In all its a hard question to be exact.
