hi all,
      i am doing an oil change myself on my 135,000 mile 91 260e-plan to use a oem filter.What would be the best oil to use for the job?
Also, the bulb that lights up the oil pressure /temp/fuel etc has gone.Is this a dash out job to replace/

I think most people here are probably sick of me harping on about Fully Synthetics - but I'll be using Castrol RS Fully Synth next time round again, so that gets my vote. I been researching this - you know if you put 5% synthetic oil in a mineral base, you can call it semi-synthetic? - beware the cheap semi-synths...
Also beware the advice of amateur mechanics like myself! - Buy the best you can afford.

Just out of interest - to anyone living in north/west London. The Mercedes Benz dealer on Edgware Road is selling Mobil1 for £19 for four litres (inc. VAT) - I've never seen it anywhere that cheap.

Buy it!. I'm only using Castrol RS because it was £10/4litres on offer, so I bought 12 litres, enough for the next two services.
