I have a Nokia 6310i car kit, to speakers, radio, etc, but my mobile is getting knackered and as i can get a free upgrade, i think i will, however, do not know which new Nokias with cameras, will fit kit. O2 say they sell an adaptor, but for £60. Fella was not sure which would fit.

Does anyone know which Nokia camera mobiles can I have without starting from base with the car kit.

Cheers,

CLK Man

Don't know which phones the converter fits, but its quite easy to swap the kit for a Nokia CK7W kit which has bluetooth and an optional replaceable (pop port) cradle that will fit most nokias. I swapped the one in the jeep and now I can use any phone I want.

Hi CLK Man,

A company I have used a lot is dashmount.co.uk They can supply a replacement cradle which will fit into the CARK 91 Nokia Car kit which is the one you most likely have in your car. Check out their website and give them a call they are very helpfull.
The replacement cradle option will give you the same functionallity you had previously as well as passive antenna connection. Not as good as the 6310's Ae connection but better than non at all in marginal coverage areas

Consider bluetooth kit

Hello - as you are changing phone might be worth considering a bluetoth phone/carkit. Great advantage is you dont have to remember to get phone out of your pocket or go back to car when you leave it in holder on view, just jump in car switch on ign and it connects automatically. I've used both Sony Erricsson and Samsung - Sony has advantage of voice dialling - ie 'phonehome' to dial house etc. Samsung maybe better phone spec. The kit shoves in behind dash with speaker - only the mic and control panel show - so no holes. But phone does not charge/no external aerial. Regards.

thanks for the replies, bluetooth seems popular, but not sure of the data security risk. also will the continous radio transmissions cause problems is it safe to be around close for hours a day and will radio reception suffer, affect car electronics - i get a BAS warning for no apparant reason from time to time and wouldn't want bluetooth to mask a real warning for BAS / ABS, etc

cheers,

Your BAS warning is probably your brake light switch.
I got my bluetooth kit from
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=CK-7W
Prices are reasonable but just google ck7w and do a price check.
There isn't a problem with Bluetooth allegedly but whatever, a fitted system has got to be better than all those folk driving around with their major tom ear pieces!
It all depends on what phone you want next. Nothing is as good as the old 6310i. I finally succumbed to the modern age when mine was stolen and bought a 6230i camera phone. (I have an MB UHI kit in the merc so it was just a new cradle in my case) Its pretty good and the gizmos are ok but to my mind its just not as good a phone and its a bit slow when surfing the menus. I don't know if you are aware, but you can still buy refurbished 6310is too.

I have a Nokia 6210. Do they do refurbished phones for that model. Or if not, would I have to just change the cradle to fit a new model phone. I had a new Sony Ericson before I had this car which came with the phone installed. The old Nokia gets far better coverage than the Sony. I had the bluetooth thing with the Sony, but I hated all the wires dangling all over the place - much prefer the built in job.

Bluetooth - COMAND

Anyone know if its possible to use Bluetooth enabled 'phones in conjunction with the COMAND system?

My COMAND doesn't have telephone enabled, but I would be interested in being able to use bluetooth in the car, other than using my bluetooth headset.

I doubt it. The 2003 model I suspect didn't support UHI and also, you don't have the UHI interface anyway. I say this because there is a UHI bluetooth cradle on the way. You can obviously still have a blutetooth kit connected to the audio of the command (like the one I mentioned above) but not a fully integrated unit with caller id and memory dialing on the screen. There is I guess a possibility that UHI can be added but this would be very costly.
