Bought one of these the other day because a couple of people mentioned they are worth replacing .
My car has 114k now so for sub £30 I treated her .
I removed the 3 bolts for the pcv itself first and pushed it out the way

then two bolts to remove on the new metal breather part and gently levered it out with a screwdriver

New part was a it tough to get fully in , even with a lubed o ring , so I used a small crowbar against the bulkhead rather than my non existent finger strength.

I ask in all innocence having the same engine type... what can fail in the cap?

I think the centre section of material (that is brown on the new part) starts to not form a tight seal and let’s more oil/water/sludge through from the engine into the pcv and then through the turbo where it gunges the vanes up by coating them (I believe )

Unless on a 251! On these you can't even see the PCV.

Changed the seal on my Jeeps om642 and new diaphragm at the same time when fitting oil cooler seals and recon turbo , nearly 3k miles on it now and removed the inlet pipe a week or so ago to fit new orange seal to turbo outlet and not one drop of oil in there.
Loosened couple of the cam cover bolts on mine and it went in very easily .. could not get it to go in until I did this.
