Hi.
I'm new to the form and I'm looking for some advice on an oil leak on my E350 cdi.
I noticed a few drops on my driveway a few weeks back(nothing too serious) but the undertray had a lot of oil on.

The car had the oil cooler seals done at the end of last year so I can't see it being that, and the orange seals from the breather pipe and on the turbo seem dry as well.
I did have a look down the front of the engine and it seemed to be coming from around the area behind where the fans are.

Has anybody got any idea as to what it could be.

Cheers.

Ryan.

The oil cooler seals leak down the back of the engine . Could it be coming from the oil filter housing at the top right of the engine at the front ?

i assume ,that apart from oil being grubby i got the description of leak origin correct ? if so? would suspect any oil pipe/fitting going to part of oil cooling system attch to or part of rad.? if not sorry,no idea..

What colour is the oil? Transmission oil cooler pipes can rust and fail. Also was a new engine oil cooler fitted and the cooler itself can fail, not just the seals.

You'd probably be best off getting it on a ramp, and whipping off the under tray to get an inspection lamp underneath.

The oil is black and no just the seals were replaced.

My plans are to get the car looked at on Wednesday at the same place where I had the cooler seals done last year.

The 642 engine doesn’t leak in many places, I would hazard a guess at oil cooler itself. We do it at the same time due to work involved.

Just had it looked at quickly and they said there's a fuel leak at the back of the engine and a small oil leak coming from the front of the engine.
They can't say what it is specifically, without stripping it down a bit and having a better look.
