I have read a bit about egr, flaps, delete from other posts and the dramas clogged systems cause, manifolds ect.
I have not found time to look but am thinking? If these flaps are motor/stepper motor driven? Is it not possible to find the linkage, find the full open position. Disconnect the link, drive, fix in full open position and let the motor continue to do its thing and not burn out trying to move flaps thru gummed up manifold. Sounds simple so I guess there's a reason why it can't work.? And never having opened up any of this so pure guesswork but would DPF not have an easier time of it as well.or would to opposite be the case. Plse educate me.

Yes easier for dpf as egr causes incomplete combustion .

I had my manifold replaced a 2 years ago now. Wasn't the flaps that killed it, it was a sheered bolt. Engine was melting itself

I am worried the motor will stop working eventually through cycles produced even with linkage disconnected. Because its so awkward to work at rather than price of replacement I am opting to delete mine once I actually find out what the deletion does(if motor locks in one position?)

When I get bored I will remove covers and look. At access to linkages.

Flaps default position is fully open so, if you disconnect the motor from the linkage, the flaps should open fully. If gunked up, they may need persuading but, once full open, should stay there. You can then delete the motor using a resistor.

Cheers for info. That's my plan. Just seems like preparing for the inevitable really.. On related. Any one used, can recommend an adblue emulator that works without drama.

That’s exactly what the “resistor mod” is on the om642 engine, a 4.7k ohm resistor tricks the inlet port/swirl flap motor into thinking it’s connected. The swirl flaps are then pinned automatically into the open position .

Thanks Oigle and Wighty. Seen that resistor mod post some time back must look over it again:)
