Hi,

Does anyone know if the injector closest to the front of the car is supposed to be a few mm higher than the rest of the injectors?

Is this correct? I was told this is how it is but it just doesn’t look right?

I would say that there is evidence of Black Death around that area of the engine and somebody has bodged it with a couple of sealing washers. Hope I'm wrong....

Thanks. Let me know about the injector positioning

Black Death? I’ve had the timing chain and tensioner replaced recently and was told one of the injectors was also needing replacement. That’s been replaced (injector 2).

Since then the car stutters to start. Never fails to do so though. The indi said that the star machine doesn’t see any faults and all the work is correct. Mechanically they can’t see anything wrong and said if the eml comes on to take it back.

It stutters at first attempt if not started for a few hours. Second attempt is fine. That’s why I looked at injectors and thought it’s not seated correctly. Indi said it’s supposed to be like that

New injectors should be coded using the MB Star system to maximise fuel economy and smooth running.
It would be best to find a indie with Star or Delphi that can code the new ones or dealer if there is no shop near you that has the MB Star system.
Also reset adaptations.

I did look at one of these last week for you, but forgot to come back. If you hold a straight edge across the tops, they are all the same height. On the 2012 e250 cabrio I looked at, anyway. The cam cover does slope down towards the front, and a bit of an optical illusion makes the front one appear a bit higher than the others. The straight edge doesn't lie though.

So sorry I forgot all about it.......... just been for a look at mine and they are all the same height. My guess would be someone had trouble getting it to seal so they used 2 copper seals on the end of the injector or it's had a insert fitted if the head has had a issue because someone had over cut the seat for the injector. The only real way to see what's the cause would be to remove the injector and have a look but if it's not leaking leave it alone otherwise you might be back in the position the guy was in who bodged it in the first place.

I can remember on this forum somewhere that VW sealing washers are slightly thicker but can be used for better sealing.
If that's happened with one injector it'd stand more proud

While the Honda washer is thicker, and softer apparently, I wouldn't expect a 'few' mm difference from 1 washer.

Using Uncle Benz straight edge method it would be interesting to learn what the difference actually is.

For a vague reference a new MB washer comes in at less than 1.6mm
