On a Smart car, what is twinamic?

On a Smart car, what is twinamic? Is it newer technology to the Smart car? Is it much better?

a very quick Google shows that it's another variation of a dual clutch transmission eg VW's DSG

Is it better? Better than what? I never have a problems with Smart's automated manual in the 452 Roadster or 451 Fortwo though others do .... I'd not want it in my ML though.

Agreed never had problems with mine in the 452 either aside from a replacement clutch and flex plate (but at 145k miles I'd call that acceptable).
