Four new Continental contact Sport 5 fitted 2,500 miles back. Hunter tracking done at the same session.

My nearside rear tyre is worn on the inside edge. The others are all doing fine. What causes this & what's the fix?

Take it back to whoever did the tracking, although something may have developed since.

Was the tracking done with the appropriate loads on the front seats?
Could be a camber problem showing during suspension travel.

Tracking should be done with the car empty as it is in the factory

Soz! Im thinking of 4 wheel alignment! Doh!! :D

Its the rear that is wearing so tracking wouldn’t affect that AFAIK

4 wheel alignment should be done with the appropriate weights in my opinion.
Not for an ABC car. Camber won't change with load as ABC will automatically level the car.
It should however be done with the engine running to ensure the car is at the correct height (and heights should be checked before starting (70cm ground to top of wheel arch) and adjusted on Star if not correct. .

Yes. I was forgetting air suspension, not being used to these new-fangled things yet, and realise the OPs car will probably have that. :D

In his case ABC (which is not air but oleo-pneumatic - a clever blend of nitrogen, hydraulics and electronics).

You can't guarantee to always have the same weight in the car so it should be set up empty as at the factory where the specs are designed and initially set.

It's not as if you can sit in the car while they do it or take 4 people with you

Four people in my SL would be an intimate experience, at the best of times.

Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
The rear seats in my 2 previous cars were never sat in by anybody....not even me out of curiosity. :D
I expect this car to be the same. :)

I took the car to check the tracking and got all four wheels rebalanced. Our bumpy road surfaces had taken their toll. Glad to have sorted it.

A closer look at the paperwork reveals that the tyres have done 8,500 miles, so my first post was unintentionally misleading.

Just as a ' post' event comment. Camber doesn't change significantly on rear wheels but possible wear in suspension and arm bushes is always a suspect.
