Mum just told me an amusing story as she had been out to the hospital:

Around the area she was following a crane today, approaching a bridge. The crane went forward into the bridge, and got stuck! All the cars did was just go round it and leave it there!

Damn, I should of got a photo! Wish I was there :( I'll probably get comments about how the crane had the right of way though and how I shouldn't take pictures as I'm a passenger!

I must say how amusing it would be! Perhaps not for the crane driver as he would probably feel like an arse.

he would certainly feel worse than that. bridges under a certain height have markings on them, and all HGV's have the height of the vehicle in the cab for the driver to check when heading under bridges.

obvioulsy all the fail safes, failed. His fault pure and simple.

Hanz, it was probably a male driver - he obviously got lost but didn't want to look at a map or ask for directions...

:) That'll teach him...

I'm still rubbish at directions, I've told someone to go down the M5 to bath, when he was right about the M4.... Oops!

it is also now a criminal offence to allow a vehicle to collide with a bridge!!!!
