I've been thinking about trading my Audi S5 in for a CLA45. Any owners on here like to give me their opinion on owning a baby AMG.

Thanks

Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
It does look nice. :)
I see that it states the price is over £900 below market average, but I paid less than £2k more than that for a brand new CLA 250 Premium Plus only 2 weeks ago.
Ok the 45 has a significant power/performance advantage of 150bhp and 2.1 seconds to 62mph....plus it has AWD of course.
Also not forgetting the new CLA 45 costs £52.5k or £58.5k in higher trim spec, but is a completely different animal altogether.

By coincidence I traded in an Audi to get it, but an S3 in my case. :)

I’ve never driven one but here are few thoughts:
1) Everyone needs to scratch the AMG itch at least once!
2) Coming from a V6 diesel, you might find a 2.0l 4 cylinder petrol lacks the low down torque you are used to even though it is a fantastic engine when revved.
3) Reviews suggest the CLA is tight on interior space. It is only an A Class, after all and will be smaller than your Audi.
4) Based on 2 and 3, have you thought of a C Class Coupe - the 43 gives you 3.0l V6 and the 63 4.0i V8. More space, more “driveability” (more cost :()

My Audi S5 is a 3.0 V6 supercharged petrol. I wondered about the size difference so I will have to look at a CLA in the flesh and test drive a 45, I don't want to be disappointed with the performance.

I quite fancy an AMG but the E is too big, the A is too small, the CLS is a possibility though.

I’d have to disagree, an E is never too large

I’d definitely try a CLA before you commit, interior is black and tiny

We have a 2 litre turbo petrol Cooper S which is most definitely not lacking in low down torque.

Audi S cars have only very recently in the past year moved to diesel power, with exception of the S1 and S3.

The CLS is the same size as an E class.

It looks a bit smaller but I know its not a small car.

For comparison the W219 CLS 350 is
Length 4940mm
Width 1881mm
Height 1416mm
Wheelbase 2874mm

The W212 E350 is
Length 4879mm
Width 1854mm
Height 1874mm
Wheelbase 2874mm

Looks like the CLS is bigger than an E class.

It’s not as tall, so it’s smaller :D

The CLS hides its bulk with beautiful design lines especially in the shooting brake form.
Subjective I know but I think the 218 SB is up there with many of the most beautiful cars....but I suppose I would think that :p:D

Personally you have to try one, the normal form they are quite small but the SB does help, the only thing is you need to find one with a different interior other than black as it feels very small even with a pan roof

Haha! Of course I’m biased! But it’s hard not to think of the design as one of beauty, especially decked out with a set of Ferrada wheels on it! :p

I believe the issue as far as space is concerned is lack of headroom in the rear due to the coupe like roof line The rear seat is quite low to try and achieve a little more head room but offers very little support for your thigh's. I don't recall any reviewers quoting any room issues in the front.

I do think that it is a great looking car although all of that Black would not be my choice but of course that is a personal thing :)
