Thought the W210 came out before this? (1995)

RAC guide & DVLA put it as a 1997 (advertised as 1998 )
Again, thought they'd stopped the 124 before this date?

What is it that worries me about this car???

Thought this was a 124? At least the pic is....something just strikes me as *not right*

Yes it looks 124 but they finnished in 95 the pic is from a 202 250 diesel,what do you think.

This is quite likely to be one of the Indian built W124's which were imported back into the UK following cancelled orders. I knew I had read it previously on here - http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=14118

So it could in that case be a genuine item then.

Still not happy with no tax or mot, oh...and DVLA giving it as a Dec 97. (When advertised as a 98)

BUT.....It shouldn't suffer from the dreaded R word like the W210 I suppose

Yeah saw that one when he advertised it.

Had a friend who was after one and steered him that way, but he bought a van instead. (I don't ask any why more)

I looked at buying a new W124 on an R plate in 1998 from Trade Sales in Slough - it was a manual E220, apparently there were a few manufactured 3 years earlier and never sold - I vaguely remember that they were originally shipped to Australia or Japan.

In the end I bought an Alfa 156
