Good Morning to all,
please can anyone explain to me why my 2000 C Class w202 has the controls [W/S etc] on the left hand side of the gearstick, [it`s an auto box,] on my right hand drive car,
it just seems `strange`
I look forward to any comments, or explanations.
Thankyou

Dennis

I think you'll find it's because left hand drive cars are like this and the manufacturer can't be bothered to re jig everything for right hand drive. There are more LHD markets than RHD

Good morning Graham, thanks for your quick reply, I have just been looking on EBay, at 2000 C class cars, & 2001 c class & notice that my 2000 car may have been one of the last of the W202 [I`m not sure just when the W202 actually ceased production] but maybe, just maybe, as they were coming to the end of the production run of the W202 they were running short of parts, so they were fitting L/H/D parts to finish the run. I just wonder how to find out exactly when or what date the W202 finished production, & the facelift model started. as a quick point my W202 was registered 2/02/2000.
I would be very interested in finding out the details, so many thanks in advance

Well Dennis l've owned 4 202's and every one was like yours with the PRND etc on the "wrong" side. Even my 2007 W209 CLK is the same, so l think you'll find they're all like this. My last 202 was a late year 2000 C280 v6 and it was a W plate. I think there were a few X plate 202's as well. Fine cars but rust is the big enemy and that was the reason for me selling mine in the end.

I was about to come on and post that they were all like that...but no. A quick Google confirms the switches to be on the left and the right presumably to suit lhd and rhd.

Really? Don't think I've ever seen one on the "correct" side on RHD cars

I'm amazed because I've never seen a 202 with it on the correct side. I've owned 4 of them.

Me neither...but I thought I'd check.
MMMM, by the `correct` side do you mean on the right hand side of the gearstick on a right hand drive car ???

The PRND321 was on the left of the selector on all my auto Vauxhalls as it is on EmilysMum's Citroën.
