Orange engine light and strange happenings

Half way between Devon and Surrey on the M4 and all is going very smoothly when I got a warning that the speed sign indication had stoped working. About half an hour later the engine light came on in orange and soon after the auto dim mirrors dimmed to their maximum in broad daylight. The speed sign warning started working soon after.
The car is starting and behaving impeccably.
Any ideas?

There is probably a fault code logged which will help narrow it down .

It was cleaned for the journey. I’ll check again though. We are away for a week on holiday so I did a big clean and put the car on the ctek just for good measure.

If the problems persist as a first course of action I’d change the battery if it’s the original MB cars don’t like low voltage batteries and it might be the first sign of it failing ie ancillaries shutting down

Been there dun that had to buy icarsoft, when I had xentry at home

I’m coming round to that thinking now. Also the Ctek as well.

Further to Malcolm210’s post, I did wonder about the battery but it is starting the car so well even in this cold weather. However it will be four years old in February and I noticed the stop-start is not coming on but I usually turn it off so I wasn’t worried.
And it told me to turn on the engine sooner than usual when I was setting destinations on the command.

I will order a new battery to fit when I get back to Devon.

Finally home and got the car on icarsoft only to find that checking the ECM in diagnostics told me there are no fault codes. I decided to go "clear all faults" and started the car (on the button at -4º having stood there for two days but I will still get a new battery I think) and the engine management light has gone out.

The journey back to Devon was no problem and no new gremlins showed up. I'll go for a drive later today or tomorrow.

One thing about the icarsoft is that there is no estate car in the choices, only sedan. Anyone else seen this?

Are there any additional modules on the estate compared to the saloon?

Not sure, but it is offered on other models, W203 for example. However it comes up with a wagon further in the menu structure but I was curious as to why it offers model variations in a different way.

Doubt the problems would come up on a run with the alternator belting out juice
