Orphan Cable Sprinter!!

Hey All, hoping someone might be able to assist with this. I recently bought a sprinter and it's running rough (really rough) I'm trying to work out what is happening but I noticed the cable in the pic isn't going anywhere. I was wondering if someone might be able to assist with telling me where the cable plugs in? The engine is a 651955, I have looked at as many images as I can but I can seem to find where it goes.

I found out it can go to the Fuel Filter if this catches anyone else out in the future

Sprinter is still running really rough and blowing white smoke with diesel smell. I have bought a new set of injectors for it so I'm hoping this might resolve the issue.

I'd get a compression test done, before replacing the injectors, just in case.
White smoke on a diesel often indicates a lack of compression meaning that the diesel doesn't ignite.
