Hi,
Because I don't want it to be when this year's new set of fairy lights doesn't match last year's set.....DRLs look like fairy lights but headlights is the focus here.
My car is a 2010 E250 estate. One headlight bulb is dead and the other is a bit pink so I find it hard to judge what it looked like originally.
I am getting a pair of D1S Osram xenon bulbs to replace my original ones which are Osram Xenarc, 4300k colour temperature.
I want my headlight bulbs to blend colour-wise with the rest of the standard lights at the front. If I get a pair of Osram Cool Blue Intense will the 5500k colour temperature stand out too much against the other lights at the front?
Anyone have experience of this?

thank you,
D.

Do you want them to "look cool init" or do you want them to work effectively without causing dazzle to other drivers?

The human eyes works best with lights at 4300K and from there the eyes become less sensitive.
The higher the °K the more blue light they emit and the eye interprets the light as dazzle which annoys the hell out of other drivers

From a performance perspective use Osram Nightbreaker Xenarc (+200%). If looking cool is more important then use the blue ones but don't be surprised if you get flashed more often.

Personally I like to see where I'm going and am ordering the Nightbreaker +200s.

Lostkiwi,
I isn't just wantin to lookin good innit cause I is safe as houses ,me.
I accept the 4300k information. Mine is a 2010 but did i read somewhere that from 2011 or 2012 merc started supplying the cbi 5500k variety as standard?
xenarc nightbreakers might be the way to go for me but my original question is will the 5500k stand out colour-wise from the other lights at the front? Or are new proper 4300k going to match up colourwise? Are nightbreakers 4300k?
Profoundliest regardations and thanks for the reply,
D.

One thing I've learnt is not to believe any bulb output or colour temperature even from a major manufacturer .

Independent tests are the key .

This is HID

Do you mean the light isn't as white as per the photo? All I want is a clean look with all lights as close in colour as possible...

I can't see what the front of my car looks like when the lights are on and I'm driving so I prefer my lights to be effective but hey ho.

My point is I don't care about the colour matching. Function is the prime driver in my choices. I can't see what my car looks like at night with the lights on whist driving it. For me it's more important to be able to have the best lighting possible for the technology fitted at the factory. For me that immediately removes the 5500K lights you mentioned.

That said it's your car your choice. My priorities are different that's all.

Seriously: Safety IS more important than style. However, when I call to my local mb parts man i will check what the standard bulb was originally and if it has been superseded by a different part.
If I get the nightbreakers , is there any trouble with heat or damaging the lenses because of the 200% more light?(I don't know much about HID's so my question might be naive)

Here's another question: Are the stock osram xenarc in my car effective? Mine have been rubbish, probably because they were the originals and fading out??

One more question- osram night breakers promise about 250m projection..will this interfere with the adaptive headlights? Will the camera at the top of my windscreen which detects oncoming traffic be out of synch as a result of the longer beam?
Thanks,
D.
