Sorry but what is a Direct Line?
I have done it. Coming up at £647. Direct Line dropped to £750 when I rang them. Gonna try them again tomorrow and tinker with excess to see if I can get it down a bit.Try Aviva on compare the market I’ve just had the best quote on there for the E53
Still a yoof then!Hastings offered a black box to reduce theirs. I'm 49 with forever NCB for goodness sake!!

Mine more than doubled with LV to £1336 from last year. OK, I'm 81 with an at-fault accident last year, but Aviva wanted £2545. It looks like I'll go with Admiral at around £850 depending on the level of cover.Mine is due for renewal in a month's time. I'm waiting for the email from LV with trepidation
Get some quotes now because insurance is generally cheaper on quotes 3 to 4 weeks before it's dueMine is due for renewal in a month's time. I'm waiting for the email from LV with trepidation
Thank you & glad to hear we can help!Norton insurance brokers 0121 248 9440.
I just switched to them after many moons with Chris Knotts. Not only was the quote good but my excess was dropped from a ludicrous amount to £150.
CK have just sent the renewal for the CLS too, Norton beat it by £60 but again, £150 excess instead of a silly amount with Chris Knotts.

Hi @Srdl, we may be able to help! We've been insuring classics and specialist vehicles since 1965. As an experienced broker, we will find you the best policy around your requirements and we like to think our pricing is competitive.Mine is due for renewal in a month's time. Direct Line renewal. Expected a jump but that was a shock!!
Insurance policies have gone up this year, mines gone up from £320 last year to £649 with 1st central, I looked on a comparison site and found Hastings direct at £437..still over £100 a year more. That's fully comp, protected no claims and a voluntary £350 excess + £350 compulsory excess which I find ridiculous. One of the reasons I sold the SL
This year, RFL and insurance would have been close to £1000 a year.
My friend is thinking of selling her VW Up. That would be £215 combined
The last service and MOT on it were £220!
It's never even had an advisory...
It's a shame. I've loved all my Mercs.
190 Ponton, C200 Wagen, 2 x W210 E class Wagens, MY2000 R129, CLS Shooting brake, and the R230 that's just gone.
But costs are increasing and my pension isn't.
Time to draw the line.
Btw I'm 53 also with over 15 years NCD.I have done it. Coming up at £647. Direct Line dropped to £750 when I rang them. Gonna try them again tomorrow and tinker with excess to see if I can get it down a bit.

Thank you for the suggestion. Norton advised me that they could not quote competitively for my car...and that was without any detail other than my name, postal code and Car Reg No!Norton insurance brokers 0121 248 9440.

Hi @ernieh, sorry that we couldn't quote competitively on this occasion. We specialise and are most competitive on classic and specialist vehicles not used as everyday vehicles, so maybe this could be why. But thank you for enquiring with us anywayThank you for the suggestion. For some reason, this is par for the course with brokers, for me, now.
For info, I've gone to Admiral, although they couldn't complete on-line and the cost increased a bit by phone.
