The only true way of checking the accuracy of the reading on the temperature display is to check it first thing in the morning, comparing a known current temperature in the vicinity of the car.

A car sitting in traffic will bellow warm air from under the car towards the sensor and influencing the reading and as you say when you move the car the temperature drops to 2c. Just my opinion for what it’s worth.

Welcome from me, Kirkyboy.

The sensor is obviously working.

As Dec rightly says it's getting a blast of warm air from somewhere.
Either that or it's particularly mild in your part of the country!:D

When the sensor fails it normally shows a very high temp, its well hidden and no warm air anywhere near it

Normally plugged into a blank socket behind the bumper where it can generally only pick up the ambient temperature, check it hasnt come adrift and and is hanging in limbo or near to a spotlamp or similar..

Could it be just the '-' section of the LCD that isn't working? Can't remember if mine actually says '+', or if it just assumes!
