Hi

I'm a newbie here so I apologise in advance if someone has already asked this question. I'm also female so not very technically minded

How come in the uk you can't display the outside temperature on the odemeter. We tried today for ages going through the different menus, oh so very complicated, before we read in the manual that the instructions applied to all cars expect those in the uk. To us that sounds very odd. Why would we want to know what speed we are doing in kph? Or have we read the book wrong lol!

Welcome to the forum Lyn.

Also congrats on your new MB.

It would help if you gave details of the car you drive.
So far I know its a Jasper Blue MB + its and estate for your dog (labrador)
Best way would be to put details in your 'Signature'

To do this, Click 'User CP' above.
The Click 'Edit Signature' on the left.
Type in description of your car.
Click 'Save Signature' on the bottom
Presto....... This will appear on the bottom of your post, just like mine below.

as far as MPH and KPH display it is simple. the law requires anycar calibrated in MHP to have on permenant display the KPH reading as well. on the off chance you go to the rest of the country (Europe) where they use that really good simple system that we dont. and as our membership of Europe was negotiated years ago we will not be selling beer in litres nor driving in KPH. apparently it is too expensive to change...

to be honest i dont miss having the temp not on display. i have often been able to work out if its cold or warm outside....and for those who need it to tell them if may become frosty....you mean you would drive fast until it lets you know?

Well it bugs me, but not quite as much as the mirrors that don't fold automatically on locking the car...Grrrr.

I think my partner and I were just so used to having the outside temperature on display all the time in our Peugeot 206 that it?s kinda weird suddenly not having it.

I can also tell roughly what the temperature is without having a sensor to inform me. I guess we just assumed that as it?s a pretty standard feature on many cheaper makes of cars that it would be standard on a Merc and we couldn?t understand why in the handbook it says this facility is available on all cars apart from those in the UK.

I would also have liked heated mirrors, guess we will have to see if we can ever afford the next model up, assuming that has them.

lb you may find your mirrors are heated anyway, check your handbook because some things are just automatic - my sl has heated mirrors but there are no switches for them, they just come on when it is cold out. Are your mirrors electrically adjustable?

MBs don't rely on you turning on your heated rear screen to activate mirror heating, as with other brands. They are temperature activated, so have no switch at all. Even my 88 w124 230 had auto heated mirrors.

Hi David

Yes we can adjust the mirrors electrically with the switch near the drivers door, so maybe you are right. I could put that down to me being female and blonde, but hey it's my bf who is the one saying they are not heated
