Where is the outside temp sensor on a W124 E320 :confused:1995?
Mine is presumably faulty as the digital LCD display reads -38 degrees C for a few seconds after start up, then goes blank, never to return until next cold start. Cool, but not that cool!
Thanks, david

If the display reads blank then the chances are that you do not have one

Item 26 in the link is part number 0005428418.
My C230K has the same pt. no., this is a pic. of my old sensor removed from my C230K a few months ago.

If you are thinking of upgrading and fiting one you may find the the LCD display is not behind the window and its just blanked

i was thinking about it:( but thinking a bit more Ive had the instrument cluster out to replace bulbs and there was no separate wire to that part of the unit as it shows in link http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...417717.418&CT=F&cat=45H&SID=54&SGR=106&SGN=09
does this mean that it is just blank:?
are there any after market ones that would look good, and any ideas where to put the display

Hi,
Relatively simple to do, even if the display is,nt there
fyi
Retro fit Temp. display Pt. No.'s
Pt no MA202 542 03 05 temp display £23.39+vat
Pt no MA001 542 26 18 sender £32.06+vat
Not sure how accurate the pt. no.'s are for a w124 as these are for a w202,
The sensor looks a bit expensive too as my new one was less than a tenner.

Sorry I,ve been thinking your car is a w124.
Please check the part numbers are correct I have no reason to think they are wrong but as both my 202's had the O/S temp. fitted as standard.

I have one of those, it goes in the EGR pipe under the air intake.

What you're looking for is a metal pointy thing sticking out of the grille in the bumper.
after looking today ive come to the conclusion i do not have one, there is nothing in the grill,or bumper so i might leave it

Hi guys , just joined as i brought my first Merc last month , a w124 320 coupe, and loving it .
I was interested in doing this upgrade myself along with other upgrades along the way when i came across the parts such as elec passenger seat , rear blind etc. Are the wiring looms for such items fitted into all cars as standard or would i need to make my own ?
The prices in the other post , £23.39 for the dash unit and £32.06 for the sender , are these retail prices from a main dealer ? seems rather cheap , i thought the LED unit would be much more .

I don't know the answers to the last post, but I can report that I finally found the temperature sensor in my 124 Cab....... Behind and below the front number plate. I kept looking behind the front bumper; never thought to look in front. Very easy to miss. I haven't got around to buying a new sensor yet though. Will let you know how it goes when I do.
Thanks all, David
