outside tempreture gauge very dim

Any one know why the outside tempreture gauge on my 220 Cclass has gone dim,cant read in daytime.Can anyone tell me if it can be repaired only its in the clocks just below the rev counter reads the right tempreture u just cant see it.

Not sure about 'pull the cluster out and replace bulb'....the temp display is a LCD, which usually leaks after a period of time.

You usually have to replace the whole display unit.

on my c200 1997,i replaced the bulb behind the outside temp display-i did have to pull the cluster to do this.

you do need a special puller to get the cluster out.

im not sure about the changing the bolb as its lcd but i hope its correct thanks for the advice chaps.

LCD it may be, but that's all a Liquid Crystal Display is - they have no ability to transmit light - unlike an LED. LCDs need to be "backlit" - hence the need for a bulb.

Pleased to say it was just a bolb even got the clock assembly out with out removing the sterring wheel which i didnt fancy as it is airbag model.Thanks four all your correct advice.
