Over revving

My friend has a C180 and recently when she drives the revs double, but when its in park its fine,any ideas on what this could be? should she worry about driving it?

If it intermittently idles at well over 1.2k then the throttle body switch is faulty and this makes it hard to drive in traffic also when an auto too.
