hi im new here i have a mercedes 190e automatic 2.0 on a g plate

i have a big problem which im hoping someone can help with i have had a problem with a loss of water but could not find where it was going now the other day i was driving along and it overheated to the point where it was pinking then cut out completely

i waited on the side of the road till it had completely cooled down topped up the water and tried to start it.

all that seems to happen is the starter spins but there dosent seem to be any resistance and making a sound like cars with a cam belt does when the belt snaps you know that whizzing sound but no bite from the engine i have checked and from what i can see the chain is spinning but wondered if there is any help or suggestions anyone has to point me in the right direction heres hoping plz help guys

Hello Blingy and welcome though not with your "not so good news"

Has the camshaft broken, that's all I can think of, by taking off the rocker cover, you will get the answer.

The chances are that the head gasket was leaking, and this is a known problem that can arise

Yes you can remove the head by tying the cam sprocket to the chain with cable ties

is your engine the 102
