Hello everyone, just joined after reading a lot of the forum since I got my CLK.

I got my CLK 200 Kompressor about 3 months ago and it had some oil, (not loads by some others experience), I got new camshaft magnets and harness and cleaned out what oil was in some of the plugs.

Everything was going well until the start of the week when I felt the car had very little power, so I plugged in my obd scanner and got the code,P0076 Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Low Bank 1.

After lots of Googling and scratching my head, (not a lot of info on this), I bought a multimeter watched some YouTube videos on how to check resistance and stuff.

I checked the continuity of the plug that goes into the Intake Valve Solenoid and there is no reading.

Don’t really want to go to a mechanic, without trying some other things that youse can advise me first.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

If there is no continuity at the plug, then its either open circuit, or there is a break in the cable somewhere.

Easy fix if its the case its just two wires. How are you checking the continuity?

sorry for taking so long to reply!

Was checking it with a multimeter, using YouTube as a guide.

Think I was a bit premature with my diagnosis! The needles for the multimeter where to thick and after checking again I got readings from the pins.

Went to Mercedes last week for a price for the inlet position sensor MA272 905 00 43 and when I checked the one on top of the engine it had the code A 004 158 60 28.

Also on the way home stopped at a mechanic and he says that it’s unusual for the sensor to brake and he thinks it could be timing, but I have no rattle on start up and when I changed the gaskets on the rocker cover I had a look and everything and all looked good!

Would checking the timing again be the best bet or should I change the sensor?

It may be an idea to get the codes rear on star as it may be wrong.

They don't usually log timing codes when they are worn, what is your mileage?

It’s coming up on 124000, maybe your right. How much should it cost to get it checked on a star system?

Between £ 50-80 at a good independent.

We are in Tonbridge If you are close by.

They are usually gone by 70-90k so I don't think it's the chain

Just googled Tonbridge, it’s a bit out my way, I’m in Northern Ireland near Newry, but thanks for the offer! Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Phoned an Mercedes specialist in Portadown who is going to test it on the STAR system for £40 on Thursday morning. Will update what the fault is when done.

Thanks for your help alexanderfoti!

Just back from the garage, turns out it’s the throttle body positioning, said it’s not something that he can clear and needs the part changed, he phoned up for a price and came back to me with £850 plus vat! Had a look on eBay and see that I can get a used one, found one for £25 so hopefully that works as I don’t think I want to be paying £850+!

Changed the throttle body and made no difference, but have noticed that the supercharger isn’t making any noise until it get well above 4,000 rpm, any body any ideas on this? I did have it out to change the 3 hoses under the air box and belt tensioner about a week before the loss of power. Maybe just pull it all back out, see if I didn’t put something back properly?
