P049b fault code on A180d

Hi

I’ve had the engine warning light on and off for the last few days.

I’ve checked the fault code which says P049b.

It’s difficult to find a lot of info online about this code (maybe it’s rare). It seems to be related to an emissions sensor that’s sending incorrect info to the engine, and causes engine. roughness.

My questions are - is the above reasoning accurate ? What’s it likely to cost to fix ?

Not at this mileage I would have thought, but it points to the clogging up of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.
Circa £400.

That's EGR B, which I guess is the LP EGR. They have a mesh gauze filter after DPF on the EGR inlet. They can get clogged.

I guess at circa £400 it’s worth trying to have the EGR cleaned instead. What would be a reasonable charge for this ?

Did you get this fixed? I have the same code on a 2017 E-class 220d. I had the EGR valve cleaned for £150, then changed for £1100, nothing helped. The code comes on as pending straight away, then confirmed after c. 200 miles, accompanied by the yellow light.
