Paddle shift steering wheel

Hi wondered if I can get some advice, My 350slk has the tip tronic side to side on the shifter which I never really use. But to get the spec I wanted I had to take a car with the not my bag part wood wheel. I have found a replacement leather unit that has no centre(airbag,horn,readout controls etc) but it also has the paddle gear change. What else would be required to get the paddles and all the controls working? Is there already wiring for the paddles and controls?

Hi, the way I read this is that the proposed new steering wheel has no horn or controls for command, phone volume etc but has gear shift paddles.

If so my guess is that a lot of work will be involved, however please wait for expert advice as there may well be an easy way !!

I'd wait for a wheel that has all the toys on it, especially the horn and airbag. My SLK280 has that steering wheel, and it's lovely!

if there is no horn on the wheel I assume you cannot operate the horn. If so is that not an MOT failure.
Just a thought

I think what he means is that the wheel is a bare wheel being sold without those parts fitted (meaning an airbag module and wheel mounted controls will need to be sourced).
