Hi guys,

Im new to the forum but that really because I dont own a Merc  ive got a VW Corrado that’s just been in to a bodyshop for a full colour change respray. I wanted black but the VW black has to much grey in it and after what seemed like hours looking at colour chips I found Mercedes Schwartz Black  (it’s the NON metallic one if there are two types  )

Problem I have is that the bodyshop screwed up on a few bits (drivers door/bonnet) and now 12 weeks and a load of BS later  I pulled the car from them and Im having another bodyshop sort it tomorrow. The orig bodyshop have told me that the paint code is....... NV23 / 040 The new bodyshop are going to use a company called Autopaint and I obviously want to make sure the get the right paint in so can anyone confirm the paint code or have a list of Merc paint codes available.

Thanks for any help

Maybe the NV23 is the brand of paint, I have never heard of it. I find it interesting that you want MB black, many years ago Berger made a super black, when used in conjunction with a clear top coat it was very good but was dropped, it will be the top clear coat that will make or break it.
Good luck.

Malcolm

I will ask my body man if he knows what NV23 is

It was from a dulux paint chip !!!! if that makes a difference.

The paint looks fantastic its just that the bodyshop have screwed me around so much by doing bits and then moving onto other cars. Mine was only supposed to be in for 2 weeks but it was there for 12 !! The drivers door and bonnet have some bad scratches in them from when they wet sanded it down, there must have been some dirt on the paper. The cars having those redone tomorrow and im off to the first VW show of 2006 on Sunday.

It looks from the photo's that it is a polished finnish (not gun) that is flated with 1200 paper then polished, one speck of dust as you say is all it takes. always a nerve racking job, get to near an edge or curve with the mop, and back to square one. it looks good and a little out of the ordinary.
