Hi all, im trying to get a paint match for my 96 e320 which is like a shiny silver, i had a look on the plate under the bonnet and come to the conclusion it was 744 which is brilliant silver but that turns out to dark, on the plate next to 744 had a number i couldnt really read which may have been 11 or a symbol but nothing on there indicates as to what the paint color is, on the plate are the following numbers:

6040307 8
210055 22
0911 8
11 201 414 774
842 744()? 425 954
580
600
655

If anyone could identify which would be the code it would be appreciated

Thanks Phil

I think that you will find that 744 is the right colour,, the touch up paints are fine for stone chips but not for the spray cans,,they are too dark,,I have the same problem

The other codes are not given normally, on some cars just a matting agent was used to dull the finish,,this can make it look different

There are many shades of brilliant silver, they include: Yellow shade, Green Shade, light shade, dark shade, service light shade, service dark shade, service blue shade, service green shade, service yellow shade, blue light shade, light shade plus, and light shade minus. Get yourself to a body shop who will have colour chips if your struggling. Or a good supplier
