:?: Hey there-

Listen, the paint on my hood and roof look awful lately. About 2 months ago I noticed it looks terribly scratched on my hood and my roof. :x I know it can be fixed with a new paint job, but good lord- that'll be atleast 2K.

First of all- does anybody know a compound that I could buff in there to help fill it in or something?

Secondly- does anyone have any experience with the paint on the hood becoming in poor condition? Do you think it has anything to do with the heat from the engine? It's on the roof too, though, that's the thing--not the trunk...or any other location. Perhaps it was a poor paint job? It was painted before I got it, maybe 4 years ago. :?

The only time I've seen what you describe is on cars that have had a poor respray. If its only the lacquer thats crazing you should be able to get it done for less than 2k. It's usually a sign that the top coat was applied in damp conditions.
