My C230 Coupe (silver) is 9 months old, and is showing numerous chips in the paintwork (front end) and one large 1/2" cip off the grill. I have taken it in for tests and am awaiting the MB response. No committment on the day, and "no other complaints" in response to my question. I see at least one other exchange here on C class paint problems, and a fried with an E300 recalls some atricles in an owners mag. Are there other instances out there that you know of?

Waterbased paintwork on current cars of many makes is distinctly inferior to the old leadbased. Plastomers have been removed with resulting embrittlement, paint thickness is only circa 50 microns & the clear coat
provides only salutary protection.
It is the first car that I have had to encase,on all leading edges, with plastic protective tape, in the past ownership of a considerable number of cars.
This problem is not confined to M-B (Shamed though they should be) but affects Porsche,Ferrari et al & is the reason why companies like Armorfend(UK) & Excel(USA) are flourishing.
I suggest you search the forums, here & abroad, there are numbers of complaints by similarly affected owners, who have not suffered in silence.
