The parking assist on my Mercedes works really well. Only when I want to park it in front of my house where it's a street with parallel parking at both sides of the road, the parking assist detects the parking spot but doesn't come up with the P symbol inside to activate the assist.

Is there something I can fix this with? Or maybe a different way of starting position of the car so it will give me the option to let it park in.

which side of the road do want to park on? You need to indicate right if you want your car to look for a space on the right.

When I want to start the parking assist, I click the P with a camera button next to the touch pad. Then while driving on the mbux screen, there appear parking spots both sides of the road (of course only when there are parking spots)

It could be that the space is not big enough for the system to self-prark. I ofetn park in spaces that the "active park assist" tells me are too small to park in .

Active Park Assist has been deactivated on a number of models by Mercedes because of Regulation No 79 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations (UN/ECE) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to steering equipment.

As above, if the car has been into a Mercedes workshop within the past year then it has possibly been deactivated.
