Yes, yet another problem has arisen, finished work this evening, started the car and put it in gear, pulled the park release handle and nothing happened, finally it released, any ideas what the problem is please? Park brake need adjusting? Sticky cable?

Thanks Tony

Handbrake shoes rusting on is a common problem with the handbrake on many cars.

Hook the pedal up with your foot. Have been doing this for years in spite of regular maintenance.
Push the pedal down hard it usually releases.

Can you clarify if the shoes are sticking or simply the handbrake pedal that's sticking.

To be honest, at this moment in time I'm past caring, I have had nothing but trouble with this car, and to top it off I have come out this morning to find this underneath it.

When the oil was changed, was it by suction or sump plug removal. If the latter, then check the sump plug for a leak.

Was done via sump plug, new copper seal and bolt, torqued up to the correct ft lbs, have been underneath and the sump plug is dry.

Check the oil filter housing ,was the rubber o ring installed properly. Was oil spilled filling it up ?

At mb mansfield now, not looking good, it has an oil leak on the inlet side or something plus lots and lots of other problems, I shall do a whole new post on it later.
