Paint colour - don't be giving them ideas!
Lambeth seems to be well off, not bankrupt, especially seeing how much they're spending on things like LTNs (low traffic neighbourhoods) but they are extremely anti-car.
Practical example of insane costs: say four friends or relatives needed collecting from Waterloo Station, my daughter and I would take two cars and park on-street close to station for two hours, cost would be £91 (plus £25 if our cars were not ULEZ compliant).

An old B-Class.
Saw an article in the Grauniad about this:
Guardian story
Checked London Borough of Lambeth and they have already implemented a sliding scale of parking charges based on both CO₂ and a diesel surcharge.
Lambeth website
Other local authorities around the country may follow suit.
I’m waiting for our car to be serviced and the reception guy here tells me that they do that in York for resident’s parking permits.

Driving in London will be made unviable if Khan gets in again.

In our pretend democracy did anything like a majority ever vote for this sort thing?
I know we shouldn't talk politics, but what else is this cr*p about?

On t'other hand, I can't see I'll have reason to go to Lambeth so as long as it's happening to every one else maybe I shouldn't worry about us having our freedoms stolen.

We have just been informed that we are now being charged to empty our garden waste bins , talk about a sliding tackle from the back.

Not only has the council tax been increased substantially , with an obvious reduction in local services , they are now charging for services that used to be included in the CT , all this will lead to is increased fly-tipping which will in turn cost the council more money

Hmmm. So when a car isn't producing any emissions they charge it an emissions based tax. Logical. Not.
When has logic come into ripping off a captive audience. Its happening because they can. I just won't be going there so it's not an issue.

We’ve had that for awhile ~£80 for a brown bin that they empty for ~6 months of the year… I compost my grass or dump it in the black bin.

Everywhere you look local councils are bending over the motorist and using them as their cash cow.
Parking charges in Poole Dorset just increased by 20% to £1 20 an hour. Peanuts compared to London but still a 20% rise. Woe betide you want to park in a beach car park. £15+ a day. Parking meters in every nearby road. Councils can't hide their contempt for the motorist, but can't survive without the revenue they earn.

If they had just lumped the charge into the annual CT rises then no one would be any the wiser , adding it as an "extra" is just another pi$$ take.

Now that makes me think. As my garden waste bin is now only used by me for some manual clippings and by my gardener for grass and hedges cut with battery powered tools, can I get a discount on the bin charge for producing low carbon garden waste?!

The argument is that people living in flats don’t need the service. But I don’t have kids so I shouldn’t pay for schools,
