I had my 2001 ML430 slip from the parking gear to reverse on one occasion. Luckily there was no damage and only minor injury. I wondered if anyone else, has had the same problem?

Don't quite understand what you mean here - can you elaborate on what happened?

Parking Gear Defect

My engine was running and I stopped to get something out of the back seat. I put it in park and as I got out, with the door opened on level ground the car started to back up draging me with it. I was able to push on the parking brake, with my right hand and that stopped it. I then got in and put into park again, all was O.K.

Parking Gear Defect

Not really relevant, but there you go, however the 1st models of Rover 800's used to suffer from this, there were a couple of people killed because of it (sorry to be grim). if the car was revved excessivly whilst in park or neutral it would slip into gear. Nasty stuff.

A friend of mine used to own an american car, i think it was a buick, that used to slip out of park all the time, but then that had a column change as most yank motors do, and park is at the highest position on the gearstick.
