I think Parking Assist on your car (like mine) is just when it steers into the parking space for you while you are in the driving seat controlling the brakes and throttle. The Parking Pilot app only works with some of the new systems on cars like the E Class. Sorry!

The other one is called 'remote parking pilot' , as Srdl you have parking assist.
If it's any consolation I have the BMW equivalent of remote parking pilot and in nearly 6 months I've used it twice, and that was just to show off! With BMW you need to use their display key too, which is very fancy but at £500 a pop a little too valuable to use regularly!
I don't believe you are missing anything

.... and in nearly 2 years I've only used the 'Park Assist' on my car a handful of times. It's rare I need to parallel park & when I do, I can do it faster myself.

Same here. I've used it twice, once to try it out and once to show my wife.

I use it whenever (not often) I have to pp. I'm so out of practise (and it is not easy in a roadster) that letting the car do it is easier for me.

faster.... but better?

my sister has it on her focus and its incredible... with the nasty view out the back of most hatches being nothing these days, and that it was dark and wet... I let it park her car in an odd space at it was perfect. 5" gap to the curb in a space that was certainly too dark for me to see and being her new car and the first time I ever sat in it, far too tight to risk getting it wrong.

then another time I got her to reverse in to a space and it did that spot on too..... and as for slow? not really only slow as you still need to do the gears and learn how to use it

As good. :) I can park my Roadster & that has next to no rearward view ;) Plus there are times when you need to park on the kerb, not next to it when you're in a narrow busy street.
