I have a CLK55 amg 2002. I took it in for an MOT and not sure if its related but my parking sensors keep issueing the warning tone and then just the red bars, after a couple of minutes they turn themselves off. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, I have that problem on my Ml, (doesnt bother me so much as the wife drives it most of the time) and my brother in law has it on his 211 (E270 CDI).
I thought it was a family thing, obviously not!
Any suggestions anyone?

Either one of the sensors has gone down or there is a system fault.

Check if a sensor has been pushed in slightly or misaligned.

It might need the fault codes read, which will tell you the offending sensor.

yes it will, its normaly the rear n,s due to the heat from the exchaust, but others could be at fault!!

Do the fault code's read an individual faulty sensor or does it just diagnose that a sensor somewhere front or rear has gone faulty?

no it will state i,e left inner sensor faulty, front left sensor, best way we check is in actual on star, put hand in front of suspect sensor and see what reading we are getting!!!

Have you made sure that the sensors are clean? Sounds silly I know, but sensors can even be affected by dead flies etc. stuck on them, or even if wet.

Yep have made sure the sensors are clean, its really odd they work fine for a while then all of a sudden the front parking sensor indicators will have just the red bars showing and the beep, after a minute the car then disables them. It can happen at anytime whilst driving.

I think like me were gonna have to get the problem diagnosed via the diagnostic computer (STAR).

I've just had two front left sensors replaced under warranty. I dont know why two went faulty together.
