I want to fit rear parking sensors to my R170 SLK and am considering the Parking Dynamics electromagnetic system. (No holes in the bumper)

Two questions - Has anyone fitted this system, and does it work?
Is the SLK rear bumper easy to remove?

Thanks

Nick

Absolutely! But removing - and refitting - the bumper may be more hassle than drilling the holes.....

Thanks for a very useful link Xtractorfan. After a bit of experimental navigation round the site I found the specific page for my SLK320 bumper attachment.
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...660716.667&CT=F&cat=66E&SID=88&SGR=075&SGN=03 Very helpful!

Incidentally gazzab, you can find that for your E class estate from here (You have to scroll down after the appropriate link appears to produce a blank page, and then click on 'attachment parts')
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1

Just a shame there doesn't seem to be an english equivalent of the site....

Try fitting these to a W209 CLK ! It has a one piece bumper with a inner plastic strengthening assembly, which is plastic welded to the bumper.
Could not believe it when i removed the bumper.
I had to un melt the assembly to get to the inside of the bumper where you stick on the antenna tape, then reweld back on.
Guh !

Seems to me that these might have better vision than the sensor?

Also - for a w203 (new style) - anyone know if I can just remove the trim rather than the whole bumper? - indeed - can't I just crawl underneath and fix it?

No clue how to get the bumber off - did try once and gave up v. quickly !

Thanks always for any help !

Hi Malcolm,
Do you have the details of how to remove the bumper on a 2005 E class estate please? My wife's encounter with a stationary tractor was an unequal contest! The rear lens needs replacing and the bumper has popped out on the driver's side. Thanks for any help.
I think that we may be in the market for reversing sensors!

It's the rear bumper.
I also need to replace the rear lens (driver's side), but I assume that this will be fairly straightforward when I remove the internal panelling (?).
As said, reversing sensors here we come!
Thanks again.
