I, stupidly, left the nearside parking lights on last night.

This didn't seem to have as much effect as I might have thought on the battery, on the assumption that they are powered by the "main" under bonnet battery - but am I correct in that assumption?

Second question; should there have been a warning when I left, and locked, the car, that the parking lights were still on?

Thanks Blobcat; interesting as it appears that the main battery had hardly discharged at all.

I thought I left it on with the rotary light switch being "hard left"; no audible warning though when leaving the car.

That was the way all my Vauxhalls worked however my ML & R Class before it has the parking lights on separate positions on the main light switch .... not as good IMHO

...
I wouldn't think two 5watt bulbs would make much of a dent in a large battery .... leds, if fitted would be even less.
