I have a March 2000 C Class W202 220 CDI Estate, which I have owned from new and has been everything I expected a MB to be - a great car. Just recently when starting and sometimes drawing to a halt, the parktronic shows as a malfunction and switches off. Has anyone expirienced this with any of their own vehicles or know of what the cause of the problem is? Handbook refers to cleaning the sensors which I have done but with no change to the problem. Vehicle will be due a B Service in two months time, but I would like to close this problem out before then, if possible.

Hi there

sensor may be disconnected. the best thing is to take it to dealer and get them to reconnect them. They sometimes have a habit of disconnecting from the bumper.

Thanks for the advice on visiting my dealer, I have this Friday booked the car in for its B service and discussed the matter with the local MB Miester who will sort the problem via his MB laptop. He has also confirmed he will carry out a software upgrade on the car to address a number of other continuous improvement issues that Stuttgart have been rectifying on the later model common rail engine cars so I an looking forward to the outcome. I was also very pleased to be informed that the car will be serviced at a discounted rate as it is an old model i.e. over 5 years old and the MB dealers here in Germany are keen to maintain customer loyalty so I expect to get around a 10 to 15% discount on their regular charges and enjoy the Mobilo-life cover. Its a pity the UK MB dealers are not so customer friendly!!
