W251, S211 320 cdi Avantgarde (2005), W202 250 td (now sold), W245 with lots of extras
Hi All,
One my the cars we have is a b class 200 cdi.
it has a lot of extras but no Comand or phone.
I would like to get the steering wheel options to work and I understand that I can get a system called Parrot ck3100 (lcd or evolution).
its a bluetooth kit that allows the speakers and the steering wheel to integrate to a bluetooth phone at a reasonable price.
Has anyone installed one of these into their cars?
And more importantly did you install it or did you had some cash to someone else?
Thanks in advance
Suki

I installed on in my wifes VW Beetle , its was straightforward and they work very well . I didnt know the steering wheel functions could be used though thats news to me .

They arent hard to fit but some companies only charge £50 to fit them and for that much i think i would probably get someone else to do it as it is fiddly removing the trim from the car

I've got 2 of these kits on different vehicles. You can get them for under £80 on the net. It's not rocket science to fit one but it does entail stripping various parts of the dash as you need to route the wiring between the microphone, the stereo and wherever you're putting the small control box/brain. I'm also doubtful if it would work with the steering wheel controls. It comes with it's own little screen with 2 buttons and a multi-function knob/button. They're very good tho.

I have heard of the integration kit though I believe it costs a similar amount to the kit itself. Also, I know they worked with the 210 but have no idea about the current B class which probably has a differnt network.
Have a look at parrots site and read the installation instructions.
Not sure it's really worth it, just to get the wheel controls working.

Hi All, Thanks for your prompt replies...
I had investigated the website prior to the thread and they state that the steering wheel will work.
The advantages of this are that you can pick up and close the call, you can control the volume, it mutes the radio when you are in a call, and it uses the car speakers. (it is blue tooth so should be reasonably future proof)
From my perspective it is the neatest solution I can find. Apparently it works with a lot of mercs.
(pease see link for installation of your merc! - http://www.parrot.com/uk/support/in...olution/?idcables=1&idmanufacturer=24&etape=2)

Without connecting to the steering wheel controls it still mutes the radio and users the car speakers. It comes with a small screen for opening/closing a call and volume adjustments etc.

You can purchase a connects2 cable that will allow you to control your calls from the stearing wheel.
I got one from Ebay for £40 Delivered but it was a "NO RESERVE" auction.
I havent had a chance to instal it yet, so cant coment if its any good.
I dont know what they retail at.

Alex.
